The board of directors of the Miss South Pacific competition have given their backing to New Caledonia's bid to host the pageant next year.
Board member Virginia Samuelu is quoted by the Samoa News saying that the board is now waiting for a letter of support from New Caledonia's government.
The 19th Miss South Pacific Pageant held in the Tongan capital, Nukualofa, last week, saw Miss Cook Islands, 21-year-old Dorothea George, crowned Miss South Pacific 2005-2006.
