American Samoa's Senate President, Lolo Moliga, wants the territorial government to hold discussions with Hawaiian Airlines regarding the air service in and out of Pago Pago.
He said discussions should involve ways of lowering airfares.
Lolo wants the government to offer Hawaiian Airlines incentives through tax breaks, landing and rental fees at the Pago Pago International Airport plus other economic benefits.
Lolo said he has already requested Hawaiian Airlines to itemize cost factors that American Samoa has the ability to change.
Hawaiian Airlines has said that the costs of its operations to American Samoa is much higher than services between Hawaii and the US mainland.
