Concern in Solomon Islands at rise in logging export remissions

9:37 am on 15 November 2005

There is concern in Solomon Islands that despite the government's stated policy of curbing logging export remissions, there was a significant increase in 2004, compared to 2003.

The report has revealed that the Department of Forestry, Environment and Conservation lost almost US$6 million in revenue from the forestry sector in 2003 and 2004.
