The Pro-Democracy Movement in Tonga has scheduled a demonstration to coincide with the Pacific Islands News Association meeting in Nuku'alofa.
MP Akilisi Pohiva says he has officially invited 80 various community leaders and put an open invitation on local radio concerning what he is calling a convention on Saturday.
Mr Pohiva says a democratic model for constitutional change will be presented during the meeting.
He says the timing of the meeting is strategic.
"We have a lot of journalists from overseas here and I think this is an opportunity for our group, the national committee for political reform in Tonga, to have our meeting right here so that journalists from overseas can have a chance to see how it goes."
