The Solomon Islander Dr Jimmie Rodgers says he is honoured by being elected as the new director General for the Secretariat of the Pacific Community.
The Pacific Community was holding this week its fourth conference in the Palau capital, Koror.
Dr Rodgers, a medical doctor, was recruited by the SPC nine years ago.
The outgoing Director General, Lourdes Pangelinan, is from Guam.
