A German company specialising in coins has begun the sale of samples of possible French Polynesian euros.

This comes despite the euro not being used in French Polynesia which has as its money the French Colonial Pacific Franc.

The German business, which has a website, has put up for sale 10,000 sets of euro trial coins of what it calls the former French colony.

It also sells a smaller run of the French Polynesian euro coins in silver.
