Further deployment of Fiji soldiers to Iraq

10:17 am on 25 November 2005

Another 65 Fiji soldiers left for Iraq last night to protect United Nations staff and installations from insurgent attacks.

The soldiers will join another 150 who've already been in Iraq for a week.

The new deployment of soldiers is replacing those who are returning home after a six-month tour of duty.

The troops are under the command of the former Land Force Commander, Colonel Iowane Naivalurua.
