Fiji labour minister to study New Zealand legislation

7:32 pm on 7 December 2005

Fiji's labour minister, Kenneth Zinck, is in New Zealand to look at the employment system and labour legislation.

Mr Zinck says his ministry wants to introduce similar systems in Fiji but adapted to the needs of the country.

He says the issue will be discussed in parliament next year.

"We are here at the invitation of the minister of labour. We have a meeting at the ministry of labour in Wellington and we are going to the employment relations court and the processes of labour laws in New Zealand, in Auckland and Wellington. We have a meeting with the minister of labour tomorrow."

Mr Zinck says the delegation will also visit the employment courts and mediation services before going back to Fiji on Sunday.

He also says they will discuss labour mobility issues while in New Zealand.
