Fiji lifts ban on import of Vanuatu kava

Fiji has lifted its ban on the import of Vanuatu kava.

The ban was imposed in a retaliatory measure earlier this year after Vanuatu banned the import of Fiji made biscuits for the third time.

Fiji imports about 400 tonnes of Vanuatu kava every year, some of which is blended with local kava.

The spokesman for Fiji kava dealers, Joginder Singh, has welcomed the freeing up of the kava trade saying it will stabilise prices and be good for regional relations.
