French Polynesia likely to become approved destination for Chinese

French Polynesia is likely to get approved destination status from China next year.

The announcement was made as French Polynesia's President, Oscar Temaru, met a high-level Chinese officials in Tahiti to talk business, trade and tourism.

These include the Paris-based Chinese ambassador Jinjun Zhao, who arrived in Pape'ete on Friday.

China has granted such status to several Pacific countries, including the Cook Islands and New Zealand.
