The Department of Infrastructure in Solomon Islands has raised concerns about not having enough qualified staff to carry out its duties.

In its annual report, the department revealed that it had only two qualified civil engineers who are kept busy doing administrative work.

The report highlighted the need for quick recruitment to fill in the staffing gaps.

It said unless the department gets skilled personnel, the right policies and adequate equipment, it will be a long time before the country achieves its goals over infrastructure.
