The US Department of Transporation has given Kris Kringle of the North Pole the green light to operate his annual sleigh flight on Christmas Eve.
For years, Santa has been required to make an annual request to the Secretary of Transportation for a special flight certificate in order to deliver Christmas presents to homes around the world.
Our correspondent in Pago Pago says the Department has yet to release Santa's flight plan, so it remains unclear whether the sleigh will reach American Samoa, the most Southern US possession, in time for Christmas morning - mind you its on the other side of the dateline, so that should help.
