The former Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Sir Bill Skate is expected to fly to Brisbane today for medical treatment after being taken to hospital in Port Moresby with suspected heart problems.

The 52-year-old's transfer to Brisbane's Wesley Hospital is said to be a precautionary move, as doctors at Port Moresby General Hospital are threatening to walk off the job if striking nurses don't return to work today.
