The Chief Electoral Officer in Solomon Islands, Musu Kevu, expects more than 2,000 people to get involved in organising this year's general election.

Mr Kevu has told Solomons radio that each of the 50 constituencies, must have returning officers, election managers and polling assistants.

He says there will be one presiding officer and two polling assistants at each of the 720 polling stations.

Mr Kevu says the Electoral Commission will also need police officers for security.
