The All Black captain Tana Umaga says the support of his family and parents was the key during his time with the New Zealand side.
Umaga officially announced his retirement from international rugby in Wellington yesterday, but will continue to play in the Super 14 league with the Hurricanes and Wellington Lions.
He says initially it's difficult especially for the new Pacific players to fit in, but they know the sacrifices their parents have made, and that's driving force to becoming successful.
"My parents love me being an All Black and if they had to immigrate again they would do it twice fold. All these Pacific Islanders that are here, they're just representing their families heritages, and we're making them proud. Back in the islands they're proud of us."
