American Samoan bill seeks senate roll in lease questions

5:23 pm on 13 January 2006

A bill has been introduced in the American Samoan senate that would require government leases of one year or longer to be approved by the Senate.

The present law requires only leases that are 10 years and longer to be submitted to the Fono for approval,

The bill's sponsor is the Senate President, Lolo Letalu Moliga.

The introduction of the bill comes as the Senate is in litigation with the governor over the McDonald's lease at Utulei Beach.
