American Samoa rates inflation as high

A report released by American Samoa's Department of Commerce says the Consumer Price Index and rate of inflation are still high.

The report, which covers the last three months of 2005, puts inflation at 4.9 percent and says the CPI rose 2.5 percent in the same period.

The report says the increases were fuelled by the higher cost of fuel and oil, new medical hospital rates and higher laundromat service costs.
