Tonga's newest political party has held its first annual general meeting.
The Matangi Tonga website reports that the People's Democratic Party, met at the weekend, when 87 financial members confirmed their executive membership for 2006.
The PDP, which was formed last year, says it will continue to work for political reform in a constitutional, lawful and peaceful manner and also campaign for dual citizenship to be allowed for Tongans.
In a statement, the PDP says a petition to accompany a working paper on political change will be presented to parliament this year.
