Fiji signs tax agreement with Singapore

9:17 am on 17 February 2006

Fiji has signed a double taxation agreement with Singapore under which investors from one country would not be taxed a second time in the other.

The agreement will also help limit international tax avoidance through clear rules about the allocation of income and deduction between related enterprises in the two countries, and the exchange of information.

The Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the new agreement, saying it is a step in the right direction.

The Fiji Times quotes the Chamber president, Taito Waradi, as saying it will help attract investors from Singapore.
