Gangs not believed to be involved in multiple killing in CNMI

Police in the Northern Marianas say they don't believe the worst homicide case in the commonwealth's history had anything to do with ethnic gangs.

Last week three people were murdered in San Antonio and the Chinese suspect, Nan Guang Xi, was shot at the scene.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau Chief, Major Edward Manalili, says evidence seems to indicate that the motive for the killings was robbery.

Major Manalili says one of the three Korean victims was a manager of several businesses and had been collecting money from an establishment when attacked.

He says an autopsy was carried out at the weekend to establish the causes of death.

"All three victims sustained multiple stab wounds and the male victim also had multiple trauma to his head."
