The former Fiji vice president forced to resign on being jailed for serious coup related offences cannot legally take up that office yet.
Radio Legend says this is because Ratu Jope Seniloli is still serving his four-year sentence from home under a Compulsory Supervision Order issued by the minister for justice, Qoriniasi Bale.
Ratu Jope has told the radio station that he cannot take part in any other activity and has to follow the conditions of his release to serve his sentence from home.
He says his Compulsory Supervision Order is valid until April next year.
A report last week said there would be a big push by chiefs from George Speight's Tailevu province at next month's Great Council of Chiefs meeting to bring back Ratu Jope Seniloli as vice president.
Fiji's military has strongly opposed any proposal to appointed a coup convict or coup tainted chief as president or vice president, saying it wants credible people in the highest office in the land.
The military spokesman, Captain Neumi Leweni, says they will decide on their next move if their views are not taken into account.
