American Samoa senators want to know where tax relief money has gone

11:18 am on 24 February 2006

The American Samoa Senate is trying to determine the whereabouts of 10 million US dollars, received under federal tax relief in 2003.

The Senate President Lolo Moliga said the Senate was still trying to determine the status of this money.

Lolo said the Senate has been told that four million dollars had been used to buy the vessel, the MV Sili.

He said the Senate was now trying to determine how the remaining six million had been spent.

Lolo said the only piece of information the Senate had received so far was that 350-thousand dollars had been allocated towards emergency transportation to the Manu'as.

The Senate has already requested information from two government departments but there has been no solid report provided yet.
