Samoa's consulate office in American Samoa to open this week

7:44 am on 27 February 2006

Samoa's long awaited consulate office in American Samoa will be opened on March the 3rd.

The Consulate Office was first proposed by the Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele, in April last year during immigration talks with the American Samoa Governor, Togiola Tulafono.

This was prior to Samoa imposing entry permits for American Samoan travellers, to match permits for citizens of Samoa into PagoPago.

The Consulate Office will process and issue permits for American Samoan travellers to Samoa and also help citizens residing in the territory with immigration matters.

The office will also assist with trade and tourism issues.
