The Chinese embassy in Fiji is ruling out claims by a purported international financier that his organisation is based in China.
Dr Keith Scott of the so-called Office of International Treasury Control, has told landowners in Fiji that his company is willing to invest billions of dollars to set up a bank for indigenous Fijians.
And, he claimed that his organisation, whose existence has been unable to be independently verified, is based in China.
The economic officer at the Chinese embassy, David Chen, says the claims are wrong.
"I can give you the answer - there is no such organisation based in China, no. Maybe you can check with some agency from China. As far as I know, there is no such organisation based in China."
