Police in Indonesia say voting has been going ahead with little trouble in the election for a governor of the province of Papua.
More than a million people are eligible to vote.
The provincial police chief, Inspector General Tomi Jacobus said there was unrest at one polling station in the capital Jayapura, where several people found out their names were not on the official voters list.
Some balloting facilities were reportedly damager, but police, however, eventually managed to restore order.
The state news agency Antara reports all the candidates are native Papuans.
Ethnic Melanesian separatists accuse Indonesia of committing genocide in the western half of New Guinea.
Indonesia denies the claims and it says through greater powers of local government, Papuans will take a greater share of profits from natural resources.
