The deputy leader of the opposition Samoa Democratic Party, Asiata Saleimoa Vaai, says claims the party has defamed the Prime Minister are baseless.
Tuilaepa Sailele is taking legal action against the leaders of the SDUP and Samoa Party over 50,000 pamphlets that have been distributed in villages.
The PM says claims in the pamphlet related to land ownership were defamatory and in breach of election decency.
But Asiata says the party invites the PM to go to court because the two parties have done nothing illegal.
"Really he's just panicked and making a lot of noise him hoping that people will believe he has some claim to the sort of rebuttal against what we've been saying. He knows customary land is a sensitive area with people and he thinks what we've put out will do a lot of political damage for him."
