Voting is underway today in Samoa's general election.
Over 200 hundred candidates are competing for 49 seats in parliament.
Nearly 80,000 people are registered to vote.
They will be able to choose their candidates from up to 5 different parties, or an independent candidate.
The polls close at 3 in the afternoon and polling officials will begin counting right away.
The first preliminary counts are expected within an hour of polls closing.
