Fiji is closing in on its first ever IRB sevens series title after beating closest rivals England 40-19 in the final of the Singapore tournament.

Fiji now has a 10-point gap over England in the overall standfings and just need to make the final of the last two rounds in Europe to take the title.

Meanwhile, New Zealand whose held onto the title for the past six years, and now out of contention, was beaten 21-14 by Argentina in the quarter-finals, and then Samoa 24-5 in the Plate Final.

But captain Waisale Serevi quoted on the IRB website says it's not a celebration yet with two legs still go...

"We went back to the drawing board and watched out defence and they way we were attacking and we really learnt from that, and that's what we wanted to learn today, to try one up better than last week. It's still anyone's game, still two teams in the race...oh one team and after this we'll go back and try to get better where we left off today"
