Fiji's former Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka who staged the country's first coup in 1987, but led the country back to democracy was arrested and charged with incitment to mutiny.

The charge stems from his alleged role in the military mutiny at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in the capital Suva late in 2000.

Rabuka who has just returned from knee surgery in India, was arrested, charged and bailed by police at his home and Suva.

He will appear in the Suva magistrates court this morning.
