A jury in American Samoa has acquitted a man charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Nikolao Alo was arrested last October after a car chase with police in Utulei.
It was alleged that in the pursuit Mr Alo threw a container he was holding on the ground as he was driving.
Police found in the container 20 small bags of ice.
One member of the jury told media yesterday after the verdict was read that the government failed to prove that the container belonged to Mr Alo.
The juror said that the government did not introduced any evidence showing that Mr Alo's fingerprints were on the container they found on the ground.
