The president of the American Samoan Senate has again appealed to Governor Togiola Tulafono to initiate a meeting between local leaders and the CEO of Hawaiian Air to iron out their differences.
This comes amid Togiola's concern that airfares from Honolulu to Pago Pago are higher than from Hawaii to the US West Coast.
But the Senate president, Lolo Letalu Moliga, says the last thing the government would want is to project the image that it is trying to interfere with how private companies conduct business.
The comment follows an ultimatum by the governor to Hawaiian Air to lower airfares and discontinue what he calls discriminatory practices or face legal action.
