8:24 am on 10 June 2006

The Suva High Court has issued an order stopping Fiji's national airline, Air Pacific, from starting domestic flights from next month.

Air Pacific had bought out domestic airline, Sun Air, and its fleet of planes as well as buying two ATR-42 turboprop aircraft in preparation for the start of domestic air services from July the 1st by its wholly owned subsidiary, Fiji Airlines.

The injunction to stop the services was sought by Air Fiji and granted by Suva High Court judge, Justice Filimoni Jitoko.

It will stay in place until the High Court has heard and ruled on all matters in the application filed by Air Fiji against Air Pacific.
