Thousands of new computer readable passports have arrived in Solomon Islands and will be issued within the next month.
The Director of Immigration, Jeffrey Deve, says the new passports are in line with international systems and are very effective in detecting terrorists passing through each country, and are hard to forge.
Mr Deve says the new passports are difficult to alter, deface or change.
He says the new passports will be a bit more expensive than the old style ones.
He says manual passports have run out and eventually, every Solomon Islander will be issued with computer readable passports.
