Solomons province decries poor air service

2:10 pm on 14 June 2006

The Solomon Islands' Choiseul provincial premier, Jackson Kiloe, has expressed concern over what he says are continuous cancellations of the national airline's flights to Choiseul Bay.

In a letter to the minister of aviation, Mr Kiloe says it is even more worrying when the reason given is a shortage of pilots.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports Mr Kiloe as saying it seems the airline is not capable of providing services to the country.

He says national leaders need to be asking questions about the viability of Solomon Airlines.

Mr Kiloe offers suggestions to improving the service, one of which is a review of the work conditions.
