American Samoa cannery axes free transport but raises hourly rate

A cannery in American Samoa has axed its paid transportation for night shift workers.

Samoa Packing has announced while it will no longer provide paid transportation it will compensate by raising the hourly wage by 13 cents.

Up to 700 employees are affected.

Samoa Packing will not stop payments to bus owners until June 24.
