Fiji's education ministry is under investigation for alleged breaches of human rights.
Fiji TV reports that this follows a complaint that education ministry policies have forced a school near Suva to send home more than 60 students because they were over the 900-student limit placed on schools.
The Fiji Human Rights Commission says it has started investigations following a complaint from the school that the ministry was responsible for denying the students their basic human right to education.
The commission director, Dr Shaista Shameem, says the complaint relates to breaches of the Fiji constitution and article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Dr Shameem says the focus of the investigation is on whether the education ministry policy is breaching the right to education.
