Hawaiian Air says it does not plan to discontinue service to American Samoa.
The move comes after Governor Togiola Tulafono asked the airline to withdraw and allow another carrier to fly the Honolulu to Pago Pago route.
But Hawaiian Air's Vice President for Corporate Communications says feedback from local leaders and members of the community is in contrast with the Governor's request.
Keoni Wagner is one of four officials from Hawaiian Air holding meetings this week in the Territory on ways the airline can better serve American Samoa.
Mr Wagner says the Airline has been asked to remain and to continue to serve the market.
He says there was genuine concern for what would happen if Hawaiian was to leave the market and the airline shares the same concerns.
He says they were disappointed that the governor has refused to meet with them.
