Hawaii's department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs has scheduled hearings over the proposed Hawaii Superferry.

The Pacific Business News website reports the focus of the nationwide hearings is over necessary harbour improvements required for the superferry.

The Hawaii Legislature has withheld a $10 million second installation of funding for such improvements, until all the hearings are held.

The superferry plans to start its inter-island service next year.
