Commemorations will be held in French Polynesia later this week to mark the 40th anniversary of the first French nuclear weapon test in the South Pacific.
Between 1966 and 1974, France carried out 41 atmospheric atomic tests in the Gambier islands but continued with underground blasts until 1996.
The group, COSCEN, will hold a conference in Papeete to discuss the impact of radiation on human genetics.
It will also bring together parliamentarians from France and the Pacific to work on a legal document at assuring assistance to victims of nuclear tests.
And a further round of talks will involve non-government organisations to look at compensation for those who suffered from the tests.
A place of remembrance will be inaugurated on the square named after the French president, Jacques Chirac.
