10:29 am on 17 July 2006

The American Samoa Senate President, Lolo M. Moliga, says high electricity rates and the current problems with Hawaiian Airlines are just two of the issues the Senate plans to address during the sitting of the current legislative session.

He says the Senate will explore avenues, in collaboration with the Governor, to improve the working relationship with Hawaiian Airlines.

Lolo says the governor has made his position public, but the Senate recommends that the governor, Congressman Faleomavaega and Fono leaders sit down for a discussion with Hawaiian Air officials.

The Senate is also calling for the re-examination of the American Samoa Power Authority operation .

Lolo says current electric rates are too high for low income families and called on the governor to study the issue with utility officials.
