The Samoa Government has admitted that there is a lack of accommodation for the expected four thousand athletes and officials from 23 countries for the South Pacific Games next year.

The problem was highlighted during the recent Oceania South Pacific weightlifting competition held in Apia when some lifters were left without accommodation despite booking early.

Deputy Prime Minister, Misa Telefoni, says a new 150 room hotel will be opened inJanuary but it still won't be enough.

He has suggested leasing a cruise liner with 150 or more rooms during the Games which run from the 18th August through to September 8th.
