A high-level, public row has broken out in the Office of Fiji's Director of Public Prosecutions.
This follows the decision by the Public Service Commission to advertise the job of Deputy DPP overseas after it was decided not to appoint any of the local applicants.
One of the senior prosecutors who missed out, Kemueli Tunidau, has told Fiji TV he was groomed for the position and it will be a shame if an expatriate is appointed.
When the contract of the former Deputy DPP, Peter Ridgeway, was not renewed about 12 months ago, the attorney general, Qoriniasi Bale, told parliament that Mr Tunidau had been identified to take over.
Now Mr Tunidau has blamed the DPP, Josaia Naigulevu, for not supporting him.
Mr Tunidau says the decision is not only an insult to him but to all Fijians.
Mr Tunidau and another local applicant, Abhay Singh, are reported to be planning a High Court challenge to the Public Service Commission's decision.
