Samoa's carrier drops Niue flights

Samoa's airline, Polynesian Airlines, is to end its weekly service from Apia to Niue next month.

The service is being dropped because of a lack of patronage.

It comes as the Samoa Government announces that the airline is to get another capital injection of around one million US dollars.

Until late last year Polynesian provided Niue's only international jet service but this was discontinued when the troubled airline's services were taken over by Polynesian Blue.

Earlier this month, Reef Shipping, the company behind the fish processor in Niue, announced that it intended relaunching Reef Air, which would fly a freight service to Tonga, Samoa and possibly American Samoa.
