Solomons Chamber of Commerce submits plan for redevelopment of Honiara

The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce has put forward its views regarding the planned development of Honiara's Chinatown.

The SICC Chairman, Peter Goodwin, says its submission includes suggestions for curbing and channeling, underground power, water and sewer, and including Chinese architecture and a walkway along the river.

Mr Goodwin says any riverside development must be accompanied by a change in habits as the river is often a dumping ground for rubbish and sewage.

The SIBC reports him also saying that the government should consider allowing foreign builders in to help locals complete the reconstruction of Chinatown quickly.
