The chief operations officer for the American Samoa Power Authority Fonoti Perelini Perelini has been sacked.

Fonoti has confirmed that he was handed a termination letter signed by the Chairman of the ASPA board when he arrived from Samoa yesterday.

He was in Apia initially to attend the Pacific Power Association meeting but received a directive from the board on Friday that he cannot represent ASPA at the conference.

Fonoti said he didn't attend the PPA meeting.

Fonoti was considered a leading candidate for the ASPA CEO job.

He has worked for ASPA for 20 years, the last decade as chief Operations Officer.

He has appealed the ASPA board's selection of Andra Samoa as the new ASPA CEO, contending that the selection process was flawed.
