Solomon Islands will have a new national constitution in place by January next year.

Work on the constitutional reform has been going on for almost 30-years and the government is eager to have it completed.

Constitutional Reform Advisor, Tom Woods says the reform embraces the other specific reforms government is introducing to strengthen rural development and giving regional autonomy to the provinces.

The home grown constitution aims to accommodate a fair distribution of resources and development opportunities.
