The United States Department of Transportation says American Samoa is expected to receive more than 1.8 million US dollars in federal funds to repair roads damaged by Cyclone Olaf in 2005.

Announcing the funding, acting Transportation Secretary, Maria Cino, said the funds were crucial to restoring communities and getting local economies back on track.

American Samoa's one point eight million dollars is part of a 685 million dollar allocation to 31 states and territories to pay for roads and bridges damaged by recent hurricanes, flooding and storms.
