Solomons Cabinet Minister denies resignation moves, says Government stable

7:11 pm on 3 August 2006

One of three Solomon Islands Cabinet Ministers reported to have been asked to resign says there is no truth to the claim and the government remains stable.

On Wednesday, the media were told that the Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, had asked three ministers to step down or they would be sacked.

The Solomon Star identified the three as Gordon Darcy Lilo, Toswell Kaua and Frances Billy Hilly.

Our correspondent said as many as nine Ministers had been asked to go.

But Mr Darcy Lilo dismisses the reports.

He says he was never asked to resign.

"To make it clear the Government is stable and is continuing. There is no instability."
