Japan's travel bureau president, Takashi Sasaki, says Japanese tourist arrivals in the Northern Marianas will soon recover.

Mr Sasaki made the announcement during the opening of Japan's largest travel agency JTB, and affiliate organizations.

Mr Sasaki says Japan Airlines' pullout last year has brought a tremendous negative impact to the local tourism industry.

However he said that a rebound of the tourism industry is forthcoming.

He says that JTB will work aggressively to promote Saipan and the entire CNMI.

JAL, which used to bring over 150,000 passengers a year to Saipan, pulled out its flights from the CNMI last October.
