The Solomon Islands, Opposition is calling on the Judicial and Legal Service Commission not to succumb to pressure from the Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, to sack the Attorney General, Primo Afeau.

Opposition Leader, Fred Fono says the Prime Minister is paying the price for not seeking advice from the rightful office established under the constitution to give counsel to the Government and cabinet.

Mr. Fono said if the Judicial and Legal Service Commission does sack the Attorney General, it will set a bad precedent.

Prime Minister Sogavare wants the Attorney General sacked for taking the Government to court over its insistence, despite legal advice, to omit two sections in the Terms Of Reference of the Commission of Inquiry into the April 18th riot in Honiara

The two sections relate to the alleged involvement of two members of parliament in the riot.
